Online consultations

Purpose

Online consultation is a great tool used by INSPIRED projects to connect with policies' primary beneficiaries, i.e. the citizens, all the targeted country.

Inner logic

As CSOs representing non-political interests might lack legitimacy to speak out issues in policy dialogue on behalf of all the citizens. To mind that gap, it is important to organise polls, lists of demands, and open questions to include tiny but crucial elements of direct democracy. This should be done ideally before and throughout the conduction of the Participative Policy Assessment, but also after before launching the unfamous Roadmap for Reform, INSPIRED's main outcome. Doing so, advocacy will be later on more effective due to the fact that policy dialogue's outcomes truly will represent the views of the citizens after deliberation.

Consultations should be as inclusive as possible, which includes additional efforts to reach the voice of the least included people - in different contexts, it could relate to ethnic minorities, LGTBQ+ people, and women. An emphasis on the intersectionality of discriminations at the origin of a lesser political engagement is thus to be done when mapping the stakeholders to ensure the policy which is going to be designed provide long-term inclusive provisions to these people.
